Fence Design Considerations

Your beautiful home is undoubtedly your most valuable asset. As such, it warrants fencing that is special and unique, underscoring your individual sense of style.

Our selection of fence designs can be individualized to enhance any setting and yet still perform the important functions of providing security, defining boundaries and serving as backdrops to landscaping and gardens.

The Colonial Fence portfolio is extensive. Whatever your taste, we can custom design and build a fence that is uniquely yours.

Generally speaking, vinyl & wood fence falls into three general types: post & rail, open-spaced picket, and privacy screen. While there are no hard and fast rules for choosing a style, understanding their relative merits may help you in your selection.

When the purpose is to define, not hide, the traditional post & rail fence effectively breaks up large spaces and increases landscaping possibilities.

Our open-spaced picket fences come in a wide variety of styles to suit your needs. The Chatham 1x2 flat picket fence reflects a traditional simplicity and practicality. It is best suited for smaller areas where a lower profile is desired. A 1x3 flat picket fence distinguishes the Hamilton as a truly classic style with many design options, equally applicable to small and large areas. Recalling traditional wood fencing of the early 1800s, the Jamestown 2x2 square picket fence adds depth and emphasizes vertical lines. Providing a semi-screen while still permitting a view of the outside, this style is an elegant addition to any home.

Providing full privacy, the Richmond 1x6 tongue and groove V-edge board come in many styles: From scalloped to straight-top with caps. You can even add a lattice topper to create a sense of airiness.

Whatever your fencing needs, each of these Colonial styles can be customized in virtually any way to fit your particular taste. Keep things simple, or add decorative caps and post finials to dramatically change the look. Let your imagination soar!
