Generally speaking, wood & vinyl fence falls into four general types: post & rail, open-spaced picket, semi-screen and privacy screen. While there are no hard and fast rules for choosing a style, understanding their relative merits may help you in your selection.

When the purpose is to define, not hide, the traditional post & rail fence effectively breaks up large spaces and increases landscaping possibilities.

Our open-spaced picket fences come in a wide variety of styles to suit your needs. The CHATHAM 1x2 flat picket reflects a traditional simplicity and practicality. It is best suited for smaller areas where a lower profile is desired. A 1x3 flat picket distinguishes the HAMILTON as a truly classic style with many design options, equally applicable to small and large areas. If a bold spaced board look is desired, our CONCORD 1x4(wood only) will do the job. For a simple rustic look, you might choose the SALEM 1x3 round-face stockade picket(wood only). Recalling traditional fencing of the early 1800s, the JAMESTOWN 2x2 square picket adds depth and emphasizes vertical lines. Providing a semi-screen while still permitting a view of the outside, this style is an elegant addition to any home.

When total privacy is not desired and an open-spaced picket is just too open , consider a semi-screen fence. By getting creative with picket or board spacing, you can create an endless variety of semi-screen fences.

Another option is a simple lattice screen which adds a feeling of separation while allowing full view of surrounding areas.

Providing full privacy, the RICHMOND 1x6 tongue and groove V-edge board comes in many styles: From scalloped to straight-top with caps. You can even add a lattice topper to create a sense of airiness. If rustic is the look you seek, then choose a SALEM stockade(wood only).

Whatever your fencing needs, each of these Colonial styles can be customized in virtually any way to fit your particular taste. Keep things simple, or add fascias and kickboards, decorative caps and post finials to dramatically change the look. Let your imagination soar!
